In a nod to the U-shaped Yosemite Valley that is the park's most visited attraction, the upper portion of the "Y" mimics this geographic formation
Tunnel View, perhaps the most famous viewpoint in the national parks system, stands front and center; from left to right, one can view El Capitan, Half Dome, and Bridalveil Fall
In contrast to the otherwise white detail representing the granite walls of Yosemite Valley, the blue portion here depicts Bridalveil Fall, a 620-foot waterfall that is often the first one visitors see when entering the valley
The American black bear is a popular natural resident of Yosemite; visitors often spot one of the approximately 300 to 500 black bears who call Yosemite home
Twelve fir trees, of which multiple species can be found within Yosemite, populate the foreground; each tree represents a group or individual who contributed to Yosemite's legacy; they are: (1) the Ahwahnechee people; (2) Chief Tenaya; (3) Totuya, also known as Maria Lebrado; (4) John Muir; (5) Ansel Adams; (6) Galen Clark; (7) Lafayette Bunnell; (8) David Brower; (9) Frederick Law Olmsted; (10) Robert Underwood Johnson; (11) Ansel Franklin Hall; (12) Rosalie Edge
Yosemite National Park was established on October 1, 1890 and is the nation's third-oldest national park
