About Us
What We Are
We create authentic, educational designs that celebrate the rich heritage of America's national parks—because every protected landscape has a story worth telling.
Our designs honor the natural and cultural heritage of each park while promoting conservation awareness through thoughtful design.
Our collegiate aesthetic draws inspiration from the visual language of universities and institutions—places where knowledge is preserved and shared across generations. This design approach gives our products the authority and timeless quality these important stories deserve, while remaining accessible to the weekend adventurers who love exploring these landscapes.
We believe that understanding the deeper stories of our parks—their geological wonder, their cultural significance, their conservation challenges—creates stronger connections to these places and inspires better stewardship.
Who We Are
At our core, we're a passion project born from a deep personal connection to America's natural treasures.
Every aspect of the business is managed by our founder, Nick, from design conceptualization to customer service, ensuring each piece meets our high standards for quality and meaning.
This hands-on approach allows us to deliver the thoughtful, personal experience our community deserves.
As a small business that began as (and remains) an after-work labor of love, we value authentic connections and take pride in growing alongside our community of national park enthusiasts.
We Give Back
Just because you’re not buying your park pride directly from the parks’ gift shops doesn’t mean you can’t still be supporting our national parks!
We’re proud to donate 5% of all proceeds to nonprofits that support our public lands. To date, all of our donations have gone to the National Park Foundation, the official charitable partner of the National Park Service.
Our Founding Story
Our founder, Nick, discovered his passion for exploration during a transformative NYU study abroad semester in Shanghai. This spark ignited further adventures across Europe and Asia, culminating in a bucket list visit to Angkor Wat. International travel shaped his early experiences, however it was America's national parks that would ultimately inspire Weekend Trip Designs.
Nick's deep connection with the national parks began in September 2021, when his now-husband proposed during an unforgettable visit to Acadia National Park. This personal milestone was shortly followed by their move from New York to California, bringing them physically closer to many of America's natural treasures.
The inspiration for Weekend Trip Designs struck during a 2024 weekend trip to Yosemite. While the park gift shops offered plenty of souvenirs featuring the iconic landscapes witnessed that weekend, Nick felt they missed something deeper - that powerful sense of belonging and pride he remembered from his college years. Drawing inspiration from the prestigious seals and crests that help alumni feel connected to their alma maters, he envisioned creating designs that would capture not just the visual beauty of the parks, but the profound emotional connection visitors feel to these cherished places. It was in this moment that Weekend Trip Designs was born - with a mission to help others carry that sense of belonging with them long after they leave the park.
